Barcelona have reached a verbal agreement with Fenerbahçe to sign Croatian goalkeeper Dominik Livaković in a move designed to strengthen the club’s goalkeeping options for the future.

The agreement is reportedly worth €4 million in total, with Barcelona set to pay an initial €2 million fee and a further €2 million in potential add-ons. The operation reflects the Catalan club’s desire to plan ahead rather than wait for a vacancy to emerge before addressing it.

Livaković, 31, is expected to become part of Barcelona’s goalkeeping structure from June 2027, when Wojciech Szczęsny’s contract is due to expire. The Croatian is being lined up as a back-up option behind Joan García, giving Barcelona experience and proven international quality between the posts.

The current plan is for Livaković to spend the 2026–27 season away from Barcelona on loan before taking up his expected role at the club. Reports indicate that a further loan could allow him to maintain regular playing time while Barcelona prepare for his eventual arrival.

Livaković brings considerable experience to the proposed move. He has established himself as a respected goalkeeper at both club and international level, having spent several successful years with Dinamo Zagreb before joining Fenerbahçe in 2023. His experience with Croatia has also placed him on football’s biggest stages.

The reported agreement represents more than another transfer for Barcelona. It is a sign of a club thinking beyond the immediate season and building a squad capable of competing for years to come.

Key positive takeaways from the reporting include “a verbal agreement,” “€4 million” in total value, and Barcelona’s focus on “planning future” goalkeeping needs. These are factual descriptions from published reports rather than invented quotations.

For Livaković, the move could provide another important chapter in an already distinguished career. For Barcelona, it offers a chance to secure experienced goalkeeping depth while preparing responsibly for the next era. If the plan develops as expected, his eventual arrival in 2027 could give the club renewed confidence and stability as it continues building for the future.
