In the days leading up to the NGO Summit 2026, I spoke with Godefroy, a reporter with WBN News Africa, about his upcoming participation and the work he represents from Kalobeyei. As someone still living the refugee experience, his perspective brings grounded insight into a global conversation often held at a distance.

When asked about his expectations ahead of the summit, Godefroy expressed both anticipation and responsibility.

“I am looking forward to going to the summit. It’s an opportunity to represent my community and share what we are building from where we are,”

he said.

Godefroy Sangu describes himself as both a storyteller and a builder, using media and grassroots initiatives to drive change. Through his nonprofit, the Scorpion Control Center, he addresses safety challenges in Kakuma and Kalobeyei.

“After experiencing a scorpion sting myself, I realized how much awareness was missing. We had to act, because prevention saves lives,”

he explained.

The initiative focuses on practical education to reduce harm from venomous creatures, while encouraging environmental awareness.

His work also extends into youth development through creative expression.

In a setting where opportunities are limited, these programs offer both purpose and possibility.

Beyond his local initiatives, Godfrey’s leadership roles with Let’s Make The Difference and Landmark Worldwide have shaped his approach to community transformation. These experiences inform how he engages, leads, and communicates impact.

As he prepares for NGO Summit 2026, Godefroy remains focused on connection and representation.

His journey to the summit signals something important for the global development space, those closest to the challenges are stepping forward, ready to be heard, and ready to lead.
