Arsenal’s 2026/27 UEFA Champions League campaign will begin with a league-phase schedule packed with European pedigree, difficult away trips and opportunities to measure the club’s progress against some of the continent’s biggest names.

The Gunners were drawn against Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, Real Betis, Lille, Napoli, Sabah and Slavia Praha. UEFA confirmed that Arsenal will play four home matches against Real Madrid, Dortmund, Lille and Sabah, while their away assignments will come against Bayern, Betis, Napoli and Slavia Praha.

The headline encounters are impossible to ignore. Real Madrid’s visit to the Emirates promises another meeting between two of Europe’s most decorated clubs, while the trip to Bayern Munich presents another heavyweight challenge. Borussia Dortmund and Napoli add further European pedigree to a schedule that demands consistency from the opening match to the final league-phase fixture.

Yet Arsenal’s campaign is about more than glamour fixtures. Matches against Real Betis, Lille, Slavia Praha and Sabah will also carry significant importance as Mikel Arteta’s side targets a strong position in the 36-team league table. Each club will play eight league-phase matches, with the top eight advancing directly to the round of 16 and teams finishing ninth to 24th entering the knockout play-offs.

The schedule also provides another opportunity for Arsenal to build on their recent European progress. After reaching the Champions League final last season before losing to Paris Saint-Germain on penalties, the Gunners return with another chance to turn experience into achievement.

The exact match dates and kick-off times are still to be confirmed, with UEFA expected to finalize the schedule after the draw. The league phase begins between September 8 and 10, 2026.
