Real Madrid have discovered a demanding but exciting Champions League league-phase schedule, with the record 15-time European champions set to face a mixture of historic giants, ambitious contenders and dangerous challengers in the 2026/27 competition.

The Spanish giants will meet Inter Milan, Arsenal, PSV Eindhoven, Roma, RB Leipzig, Shakhtar Donetsk, LASK and AEK Athens across eight league-phase matches. Four of those fixtures will be played at the Santiago Bernabéu, where Real Madrid will host Inter, PSV, Leipzig and LASK. The remaining four will see the club travel to Arsenal, Roma, Shakhtar and AEK Athens.

The meeting with Inter promises to be one of the standout encounters. It also carries a special storyline for José Mourinho, who returned to Real Madrid as manager in June for a second spell. Mourinho famously guided Inter to the Champions League title in 2010 before subsequently taking charge of Madrid.

Arsenal will provide another major test. The reigning European champions were among the strongest sides in last season's competition, making the Madrid-Arsenal encounter one of the league phase's most anticipated fixtures.

Real Madrid's official announcement captured the scale of the challenge, stating that the team will face eight opponents following the draw in Monaco. The club also confirmed that the fixtures will be split evenly between home and away matches.

The 2026/27 league phase begins on September 8 and runs until January 27, 2027. The top eight teams will advance directly to the round of 16, while clubs finishing from ninth to 24th will enter a two-legged knockout playoff. The final is scheduled for June 5, 2027, at the Metropolitano Stadium in Madrid.

For Real Madrid, this is more than another European campaign. It is another opportunity to inspire supporters, create unforgettable nights and continue a tradition that has shaped generations of football lovers.
