Manchester City have been handed a demanding but exciting Champions League league-phase schedule, with Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona among the headline opponents in the 2026/27 competition.

The draw, conducted in Monaco, confirmed that City will face eight different clubs as part of the 36-team league phase. The English champions will welcome PSG, Sporting CP, Napoli and AEK Athens to the Etihad Stadium, while travelling to Barcelona, Porto, RB Leipzig and Lens.

The meeting with reigning European champions PSG immediately stands out as one of the competition’s biggest fixtures. Barcelona also provides a heavyweight challenge, ensuring City will face two of Europe’s most recognized clubs before the knockout rounds.

City’s complete list of opponents is PSG at home, Barcelona away, Sporting CP at home, Porto away, Napoli at home, Leipzig away, AEK Athens at home and Lens away. The order in which the teams were drawn does not necessarily represent the eventual match sequence.

The 2026/27 campaign will be City’s 16th successive appearance in Europe’s elite club competition, underlining the remarkable consistency the club has achieved at the highest level. The new league-phase format requires every team to play eight matches, with four at home and four away.

The league phase begins between September 8 and 10, 2026, with the final scheduled for June 5, 2027, at the Metropolitano Stadium in Madrid. The top eight teams will advance directly to the Round of 16, while teams finishing ninth to 24th will enter the knockout play-offs.

For City, these fixtures represent more than a test of footballing quality. They offer opportunities for players to create unforgettable European nights, inspire supporters and continue building a legacy that reaches beyond the pitch.

Positive takeaways from the confirmed details include “16th successive season” of Champions League participation and the chance to face Europe’s strongest sides across eight high-level matches.

With PSG, Barcelona and a host of ambitious European clubs standing in their way, City’s journey promises intensity, emotion and unforgettable moments. If they embrace the challenge with courage and unity, another memorable Champions League campaign could be waiting at the end of the road.
