Nigeria is strengthening its commitment to sustainable solutions for displaced populations through a new three-year partnership between the Amahoro Coalition and the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons (NCFRMI). Signed on June 26, 2026, the agreement aims to accelerate economic inclusion by expanding skills development, entrepreneurship, private sector investment, and employment opportunities for refugees, migrants, internally displaced persons (IDPs), and returnees across the country.

The partnership signals a growing shift from traditional humanitarian assistance toward long-term economic empowerment. Rather than focusing solely on emergency relief, the initiative seeks to equip displaced communities with the skills, resources, and market opportunities needed to build sustainable livelihoods and contribute meaningfully to Nigeria's economy.

Founded in 2019, the Amahoro Coalition has become one of Africa's leading private sector platforms dedicated to advancing economic inclusion for displaced communities. By bringing together businesses, governments, investors, development organizations, and civil society, the coalition works to create practical, scalable solutions that unlock opportunities for vulnerable populations while promoting inclusive economic growth.

Nigeria continues to face significant displacement caused by conflict, insecurity, and climate-related challenges. For many affected families, access to employment, skills training, and entrepreneurship opportunities represents a critical pathway toward rebuilding their lives with dignity and independence.

The collaboration also reflects a broader movement across Africa that recognizes the private sector as an essential partner in addressing displacement. By combining government leadership with private sector innovation and investment, the initiative aims to reduce dependency on humanitarian aid while creating lasting economic opportunities for those most in need.

As Nigeria continues pursuing durable solutions for displaced communities, this partnership offers a promising model for inclusive development. By investing in people's potential and fostering collaboration across sectors, the initiative has the opportunity to transform lives, strengthen communities, and build a more resilient and prosperous future for all.
